About the artist, Chelsea Rouhana:

I am a modern-day abstract impressionist artist, trained jeweler, and all around creative soul based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I studied jewelry design at both Kendall College of Art and Design and Eastern Michigan University, obtaining my Bachelor’s in Fine Arts with a focus in Metalsmithing. Although I was technically trained in metals, I grew to love the exploration of other media in art school. I found over time through various classes that I was growing incredibly fond of the freedom and peace that watercolor brought to me. While I will always be a jeweler at heart, I anticipate my future work to explore the combination of my experimentation in watercolor with my refined skill in metal work. Until I have a full studio space with more equipment available, I will continue to work on my watercolor collections and pieces more in depth.

I find endless inspiration in the artists of the past. My watercolor work is inspired by the work of impressionist painters I admire and adore, such as Monet, Matisse, Cassat, Degas, Gauguin, just to name a few.

This is my personal journey through the muddied waters that is finding your own artistic expression and re-imagining your story. Art has always been my clear path, but where does the winding road lead? Join me as I navigate through that thing called "your late twenties", teach myself how to find my voice, use my hands to create and find my place in this world.
